A Fun Weekend in Africa!

We had an exhausting but fun week so we decided to treat ourselves this weekend with an excursion that would rock our socks!
We started early Friday morning  by driving to the canopy walk.  After a fun adventure of testing our fear of heights, we headed to see and touch some crocodiles.  Amanda, Ashlee, Megan, and Brayden became brave and kissed a crocodile!  After testing our fears of crocodiles, we finally headed out to our destination of Kakuum Elmina Coconut Grove Beach Resort.
When we arrived, we knew we were in heaven!  The beach was Beautiful, we had awesome food, water pressure in our showers, and awesome rooms!

After much dramamine, Kathleen slept most of the drive to Coconut Grove Beach Resort.

We finally made it to the Beautiful resort!

It was Amanda's first time at the beach.  We had a blast!

Brayden, Lacey, and Megan went horsback riding saturday morning.

After an amazing time at Coconut Grove Beach Resort, we headed to visit the slave castles Saturday afternoon.

This is all of us after an amazing tour of the Elmina Slave Castle
This is the cell where they would put the rebellious slaves. The skull and crossbones represent the fact that no one ever left the cell alive.

This picture was taken from the third floor walkway, looking down into the courtyard. The building in the center was first a Portuguese church, and then the Dutch converted it to a slave trading post.
